Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 6 June 2026
1. About us
These terms govern your use of the AI Sustainability Index service and any certification issued through it. The service is operated by AI Sustainability Index Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales. By using the service you agree to these terms.
2. Who can use the service
You must be at least 18 years old and, if acting on behalf of an organisation, have authority to bind it. You agree to provide accurate information at sign-up and to keep your account details up to date.
3. The service
The AI Sustainability Index provides a calculator, model leaderboard, methodology and certification programme for organisations using AI. Our outputs are estimates intended for decision support and not for statutory carbon reporting.
4. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the service. In particular you must not:
- use it for any unlawful purpose, fraud or spam;
- infringe our or any third party's intellectual property;
- introduce malware, attempt to probe, scan or test the security of our systems, or scrape data without permission;
- misrepresent your certification status or display a certified badge after your certification has expired or been revoked.
5. Intellectual property
We own all rights in the service, the methodology, the badges and the certificates we issue. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to display your active certification badge and certificate while your certification is valid. You must not reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the service.
6. Service level
We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that the outputs will be free from inaccuracies.
7. Payments, billing and refunds
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. By purchasing you also agree to Paddle's Buyer Terms at paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms.
Certifications are sold as annual subscriptions that auto-renew unless cancelled. You can cancel at any time through your account dashboard or by visiting paddle.net. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious violations of our acceptable use rules. On termination we may revoke any active certification.
9. AI-specific terms
The service involves AI-derived estimates and may reference third-party AI models. You are responsible for how you use our outputs. Estimates may be inaccurate; you should not rely on them for regulated reporting without independent verification. You must not use the service to produce illegal content, deepfakes, hate speech, malware or to jailbreak third-party models.
10. Warranties and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from the service is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We exclude liability for indirect, consequential or special damages including loss of profits, data or goodwill. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
